About Valerie
Valerie Janowski is a licensed mental health counselor. Valerie believes anyone can benefit from treatment, including people dealing with relationship issues, job stress, problems affecting their daily functioning, etc. She believes all mental health issues center around difficult emotions and working on identifying healthy ways to cope, as well as developing skills to improve one’s life. Valerie’s goal is to help patients work on bettering themselves. During sessions with Valerie, patients can expect their emotions to always be validated by an impartial, supportive therapeutic partner. Valerie is trained in multiple therapeutic modalities. She realizes certain treatment methods won’t work for everyone, so she pulls from a diverse body of knowledge when creating treatment plans. She specializes in cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical-behavioral therapy, EMDR, motivational interviewing, Twelve Step, and more.
She has been trained and certified in anger management and takes a special interest in trauma treatment. Valerie has been providing therapy since 2015. She is comfortable working with patients age 13 and up. She treats concerns including ADHD, anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, obsessive-compulsive disorder, relationship issues, self-esteem issues, insomnia, stress, trauma, women’s issues, control disorders, mood disorders, and more. In her spare time, Valerie likes to do yoga, read, travel, and take her dog on adventures. Valerie enjoys working at SohoMD because of the focus on employee work-life balance.

About Angeli
Angeli Pemberton is a licensed mental health coun-selor. Angeli’s approach is warm, compassionate, andpatient-centered. This DBT-informed therapist helpspatients become more empowered by teachingthem skills to manage their emotions and increasemindfulness. Angeli works especially well with indi-viduals who may not have felt safe, loved, or validatedin their relationships in the past. Her background intreating patients provides her with a unique frame-work that helps her guide individuals in exploringtheir issues’ root causes.
Angeli treats patients ages 18-55. She specializes intreating depression, anxiety, self-esteem challenges,relationship issues, and stress related to life transi-tions (career changes, parenting challenges, divorce,etc.). Angeli uses a psychodynamic approach to helppatients explore their past and gain self-awarenesswhen needed. She also uses solution-focused,strengths-based, and cognitive-behavioral therapyapproaches to alleviate symptoms. In her spare time,Angeli loves to write and play music. She grew up inTrinidad and Tobago.
