About Diego

Diego F. Chiluisa is a licensed mental health counselor. Diego provides a non-judgmental, objective perspective about the issues affecting his patients. He strives to work with his patients to build a healthy framework with his patients so they can feel protected and fit all the pieces of their lives back together. Diego believes that most of life’s problems have more to do with the way we interpret events than the actual events themselves. He helps patients refocus to fix the distorted views they may have about their reality. His goal is to help patients believe in themselves so they can make the adjustments and necessary changes to improve their lives. During sessions with Diego, patients can expect a reflective, supportive environment as they build on their strengths. They can also expect a secure space to openly share their thoughts and feelings. Diego uses cognitive-behavioral therapy, person-centered therapy, EMDR, and motivational interviewing to work with his patients. He is comfortable working with patients aged 12 and above and has been working with patients since 2016. He has experience treating issues like anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, issues with a variety of relationship types, self-esteem, divorce, and infidelity. Outside of work, Diego enjoys drawing, painting, and playing sports. He also volunteers as a counselor at a local youth group. He is fluent in English and Spanish. Diego enjoys working at SohoMD because he enjoys the structure and supervision they offer remotely.
